What is 50kg standard rail used for?
50kg standard rail is used for mainline network track, heavy industrial sidings, mining haulage routes and heavy overhead crane runways. It is an active profile under AS1085.1-2002 suited to applications where the 41kg is insufficient and a heavier section such as 60kg is not required.
What are the dimensions of 50kg rail?
AS 1085.1 50kg rail has a head width of 70mm, a height of 154mm, a foot width of 127mm and a web thickness of 15mm. The mass is approximately 50.6 kg per metre. These dimensions conform to the Australian Standard AS 1085.1.
What is the difference between 50kg and 53kg rail?
The 53kg is a legacy profile absent from the current AS1085.1-2002 standard, while the 50kg is an active listed profile. Both are similar in weight but differ in cross-section geometry. For most new construction, the 50kg is the preferred specification. The 53kg is more commonly used for like-for-like replacement on existing 53kg infrastructure.
What clips are compatible with 50kg rail?
Compatible welded clips for 50kg include the M71 and M120. Compatible bolted clips include the CL4-20, CLX-20 and CLX-24. Clip selection depends on the substructure type, installation method and load requirements. Send us your drawings or application details and we'll advise on the correct clip.
